Touching up the paint on your vehicle is always a Herculean task. This is even true for Sebring, FL drivers with tiny blemishes to fill. If this work isn't done correctly, it can do more harm than good. At Alan Jay Nissan, we want to share two important things to know before you get started.
Not Every Color Has a Paint Code
Paint matching for touch-ups is easiest when you use the available paint codes. However, many automotive paint colors don't actually have them. If you own a vehicle with a two-tone color scheme, you'll have to have a professional match your paint instead.
Touch-up Paint Goes on in Multiple Layers
It takes several layers of paint to create a smooth, seamless look. Dabbing a small amount of paint onto a blemish in a single layer will leave you with a rough, patchy surface, and paint that's soon to peel or flake off. When applying, go for several, ultra-fine layers and give each one ample dry time in-between.
